Places to eat in Perth
Perth offers a rich variety of eateries, cafes and restaurants: for family, fine dining, “casual fine”, funky, expensive – affordable. Perth is the “Dullsville in Australia” for the ones that have not looked outside of a little box called TV.
We start by areas and you will see that you are in for a new experience!
Cafe Stripe – Close to the city we have
Albany Highway – close to the Causeway end – few nice places – and if you want to include Burswood Resort with a range – still Albany Hwy – Vic Park you can choose from Vietnamese, Indian, Japanese, Yum Cha, Fusion, Italian, Mexican and more.
Mount Lawley – High Gate – Very funky eateries, cafes and fine restaurant
Joondalup has become a nice place to go – obviously you must be in the surroundings to explore the area, otherwise it is a bit of a drive. Nice pubs and Indian restaurants.
City is always a good place to get a bit after work – Perth CBD has lovely hidden gems, elegant new places on Kind Street, and Kings Park. Theatres and movies (not so much “Hollywoodie”)
Northbridge – you don’t know what you are missing if you still have the old stereotypes about the area. It is clean, safe (well what is safe anyway…). Restaurants galore there, all prices and ambience. Don’t forget there is theatre and movies too.
Claremont, Subiaco and South Perth are very affordable now (thanks to competition) with so many new restaurants. The culture on those suburbs is young and funky.
The Foot Hills and Perth Hills – you will be surprised by the quality and novelty of styles over there. Swan Valley has great fine winery restaurants, as well as popular for family days out. Amazingly beautiful and food to die for.
Lets not forget our Fremantle – the best words cannot describe that corner of the planet – beautiful and always buzzing with great vibes, food, drinks, pubs, entertainment, for the whole family, the market, museums. Freo has everything and more.
If you like to venture a little further try Mandurah for the day!
We can go on and on but the best thing to do is – make a date, chose the area and see your options there.
Comedy Places
Every Wednesday at the Brass Monkey – 8.30pm
Laugh Resort Inc is Australia’s only Incorporated Association of stand-up comedians. They said it couldn’t be done: you can’t have a comedy room run by comedians. They’ll never agree on anything, and they’ll argue and bicker and be silly at meetings.
Admittedly it’s not easy telling a comedian they can’t speak unless they pass a motion through the chair. And, yes, they tend to act up a bit at meetings, but we’ve been doing it since 1991. Successfully!
If you know anything about the comedy/music scene, you’ll realise that there’s a lot of shysters out there who just can’t help ripping people off. So we decided to start a room for comedians, run by comedians.
The Laugh Resort has been running various stand-up comedy rooms in Perth since 1991. The current room is at The Brass Monkey in Northbridge.

Do you know the Parklife space in Perth? Our home in Perth is the picturesque Wellington Square in East Perth.
We acknowledge the Whadjuk clan as the traditional custodians of the country on which Wellington Square has been constructed.
Wellington Square was originally a swamp that was drained in 1830 so it could be used to exercise horses. The park was named after the Duke of Wellington who was the Prime Minister of the UK at the time that Perth was settled. From the 1890 – 1901 Wellington Square was the original WACA hosting all the major cricket games in WA when it then became the main football field in the state. Today we share the park with local sporting clubs, picnickers and residents alike! Worth spending sometime there – check their website for more info about upcoming events.
